I had a great experience getting a hair transplant at Neopel last Monday. The staff was very professional, the facilities were clean and state-of-the-art, and the price was extremely competitive. I flew into San Diego Sunday morning, got picked up and transported from the SD airport to my hotel in Tijuana, and picked up for the appointment on Monday morning. The staff was very kind and professional (shoutout to Yanel in particular), the surgeons were excellent and take pride in what they do, and the local food in Tijuana was great. I went with a more conservative transplant procedure, as I wanted to retain as much donor area as possible. The surgeons quoted me 3,000 grafts. I thought they did a fantastic job. If I decide to get an additional transplant in order to maximize density in my scalp region (considering doing so in ~15 months), I will without a doubt choose Neopel.
I think it's important for me to leave a review of neopel because they don't have the benefit of having a lot of reviews. There are also some bad reviews on here from people who I think just don't understand how human biology and hair science works and are expecting too much. If you're completely bald for a large area on your head, you're not going to be completely unbald and have 100% density in one procedure. It's not possible or a good idea. It's an insanely traumatic thing to happen to your head and so Dr. Hernandez being modest and safe about how many plugs she's willing to put in is her being a medical professional. It's unfair for people to complain about this, especially since you're comparing to "hair mills", which will promise you they can do more but are just interested in getting more money out of you than actually doing the right thing. When I went through this whole journey of looking for hair transplants, and realizing that staying in the United States was going to be cost prohibitive, I started exploring stuff in Mexico. I was obviously super worried because I thought that the lower price would be commiserate with the quality. However, after doing a ton of research and reading reviews and then also talking to Dr. Hernandez, I decided to just bite the bullet and take the chance. I went in 2020 and did FUT. The pick up process was amazing and the hotel they put me in was amazing. The whole process was awesome. Most importantly, it actually worked. I just looked at an old photo of myself before I did it and I don't even recognize myself from back then. Thank god I did it. I can't imagine what I would look like now five years later if I'd never taken the chance on this back then. I'm writing this review now because I'm even more impressed with them as medical professionals. I wanted to do a second round of FUE to fill in some thinning areas. I got on a call with them to talk it out, hoping we were going to end up scheduling a date. Both Dr. Hernandez and her husband looked at me and said basically "We don't think you're a good candidate, we might do more harm to your existing follicles than good because you have too much density." They refused to do the procedure. Ha ha. It's disappointing, but this is a very good thing. Most unscrupulous doctors would just do the obvious cash grab and take your money, regardless of whether it was a good idea to do the procedure or not (callback to these other negative reviews on here). Neopel making a discerning call like this means that they are actual medical professionals and technicians who want to be known for the quality of their work and don't mind turning away work if that's what quality is about. They told me to come back in a few months and we would reevaluate. Anyway, if you're a person who has thinning. I wouldn't hesitate to go here. Ignore the bad reviews on here, ignore that it's in Mexico. Absolute quality work and the prices you need for the average person to afford this procedure.
I had my FUE hair transplant at Neopel yesterday, and I can honestly say it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. I received 1,800 grafts (3,300 total follicles), primarily to my hairline and temples, with a small amount added to the crown, and I could not be happier with my decision to choose this clinic. There are three main reasons why Neopel truly stands out. 1. Exceptional Doctors and World-Class Workmanship The quality of the transplant and the skill of the doctors are second to none. The teamwork between Dr. and Dra. Hernandez is seamless and genuinely impressive. Dr. Miguel handles the extraction of grafts from the donor area, while his wife, Dr. Ana, performs the implantation into the recipient area—and it’s clear they have perfected this process over many years (over 20!) of working together. Dr. Miguel is incredibly meticulous, cautious, and gentle. He carefully selects the best donor grafts while being extremely mindful of preserving the donor area. He took the time to answer every question I had, explained the process clearly, and encouraged me to take breaks whenever I needed them. His calm, kind demeanor made a long procedure feel surprisingly comfortable. Dr. Ana is absolutely brilliant. She spent a great deal of time designing my hairline, carefully measuring my face and making sure everything was balanced and natural before moving forward. What I really appreciated most is that she is honest and realistic—she doesn’t overpromise or try to sell you a fantasy. Instead, she explains what is achievable and then executes it with incredible precision and artistry. You can tell she truly cares about creating the best possible, natural-looking result. 2. Truly Personalized Care One of the biggest differentiators at Neopel is that they only perform one transplant per day. That means you are the sole focus of the entire clinic. Every detail of your experience feels personal and intentional. It’s immediately obvious that Neopel is not trying to rush patients through procedures to maximize volume or profits. Instead, they genuinely care about you as a person. The doctors and staff take the time to talk with you, ask about your life, your family, and your goals. That human connection makes a huge difference, especially during a procedure of this magnitude. 3. An Incredible, Caring Staff Every single person at Neopel is warm, professional, and genuinely kind. Daniela, the coordinator, deserves special recognition—her communication is impeccable. She responds quickly to emails, answers questions thoroughly, and makes the entire process feel effortless and stress-free. The nurses who assist Dr. Miguel and Dr. Ana are wonderful. They made me feel comfortable, supported, and well cared for throughout the entire day. Even the drivers who transported me to and from the clinic were friendly, punctual, and professional. Every interaction reinforced that Neopel is staffed by people who truly care. Final Thoughts I spent a lot of time researching hair transplant clinics before choosing Neopel—looking at options in Southern California, Tijuana, and even Turkey. Everything I read consistently pointed me toward Neopel. I went in with very high expectations, and I can honestly say they exceeded every single one. If you are serious about getting a high-quality, personalized hair transplant performed by ethical, highly skilled doctors who truly care about their patients, I cannot recommend Neopel strongly enough. Choosing them was one of the best decisions I’ve made.
I spent a lot of time researching different hair transplant options, including the idea of flying to Turkey, but ultimately chose Neopel Hair Clinic—and I’m genuinely glad I did. The convenience of being closer to home and avoiding complicated logistics was a big plus, but the real deciding factor was their approach: they only do one procedure per day, and the doctors are hands‑on with you from start to finish. At other clinics, the doctors only handle part of the process while juggling multiple patients. Neopel is the complete opposite. From the beginning, the team was friendly, never pushy, and incredibly responsive. Every question I had was answered quickly and clearly. I scheduled a video consultation with Dr. Ana Hernández, who walked me through the entire process and even showed me the clinic, which immediately put me at ease. Leading up to my procedure, they followed up with reminders, instructions, and even sent over the details for my hotel—they covered one night, which was a great touch. They also arranged transportation to and from the Tijuana airport, making the whole experience smooth. The morning of the procedure, Dr. Hernández personally picked me up and even trimmed my hair herself. Honestly, how much more face‑to‑face doctor time can you ask for? It made me feel completely comfortable and confident going in. Then Dr. Alessandrini took over to walk me through the procedure, answer any last‑minute questions, and introduce me to the nurse and technicians. He handled the harvesting and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Afterward, they brought me a full, delicious meal of my choice—another small detail that made a big difference. Dr. Hernández then performed the implant portion, and the whole procedure was so professional and smooth that I actually fell asleep at times. Once we were done, she went over all the aftercare instructions, provided all the supplies and medication I needed, and even drove me back to my hotel herself. I couldn’t be happier with both doctors and the entire Neopel staff. Everyone was wonderful, attentive, and genuinely invested in my experience. I’ll update this review once my results come in, but so far, I’m extremely impressed and grateful I chose Neopel.
When I first started researching hair transplant surgery about a year ago, I interviewed with around 10 different clinics — and honestly, most of them felt extremely pushy or even desperate for business. I looked at options in Turkey and other parts of Mexico, but none gave me a great feeling. The moment I spoke with Daniela from Neopel clinic, I knew I’d found the right place. There was zero pressure, just helpful, honest information every step of the way. What really stood out to me was how involved Dr. Hernandez is — she personally performs all the work herself with her husband. They even provided scrubs for the procedure so my clothes wouldn’t get ruined, all the aftercare medicine was included, and the hotel accommodations were very comfortable. Her son, who handles the airport shuttle, was also amazing. I was nervous about crossing the border from San Diego to Tijuana, but he knew exactly what to do and got us through quickly. If you’re on the fence about where to go, I highly recommend Neopel clinic. I’m always open to answering any questions, I have my day of surgery photos attached, I’ll share an update in 7–8 months so you can see my results.
