It's been 13 months and while my follicles all seem to have grown in, I don't think this is the best option for females. My hairline is now unnaturally low on all 3 sides and it's so dense that it doesn't blend in with the rest of my hair. My hair has never been that dense so having a small dense strip at my hairline doesn't make sense. The sharp downward angle at which the follicles were placed makes it really difficult to style and impossible to keep the hair out of my face and eyes. In retrospect I should have searched more for a female surgeon or at least have my hairstylist help me plan my hairline. In regards to the process, it was greatly lacking in comfort. I understand why all other surgeons offer intravenous relaxation - the topical injections were minimally effective. I was in great pain that day and for the following 48 hours. The office is in great need of updating (30 yr old card table to eat lunch on) including the treatment chair for which the employees kept apologizing for it's lack of comfort. The employees were wonderful and tried their best to keep me comfortable. I now know that transplants for females are so nuanced, it's hard to get it just right.
2 years out from a 3k grafts and 1 year out from 2.5k grafts, and it's a full restoration, just amazing. I mean look at the difference! Dr Alexander and his staff are consumate professionals, and I can't recommend them enough. The lunch provided is a great touch, too. Best money I ever spent. The procedure is relatively painless, and the swelling the week after is a little uncomfortable, and just look at the results. If you've been thinking about going for an HT, this is absolutely the place.
If you are reading this review, you are likely researching solutions for hair loss and it’s easy to get lost with the amount of information out there. I don’t think I could have done any better than Dr. Alexander and his team. I mention his team because a hair restoration procedure is just as involved for the team as it is the surgeon - and those people are just as important. Dr. Alexander's team has been with him a long time and they are all professionals. I’m six months post-procedure and it’s life changing. I probably spent a decade or more unhappy with my hair and now I have a result so natural that no one would know I’ve had a procedure done. And the best part is that it will still keep improving for the next six months or so. If it were “final” today I would already be thrilled. My wife says I now have more hair than when we met 20 years ago. There are other providers around the country (or outside the US) who can likely do a procedure for cheaper. For me, this was not a procedure where cost was my primary factor. I wanted to get it right. If I can encourage someone who is “on the fence” - just do it. Best decision I’ve ever made for myself. This is obviously a very personal thing that some people might not be comfortable talking about, but I sincerely hope this review helps someone who is thinking about it.
Dr Alexander and his staff were extremely professional and caring throughout the entire procedure. Here are a few more details : 1- impressed with the doctor’s expertise, knowledge and care. He was also easy to talk to and I could tell right away he has a passion to achieve the best results possible. 2- Dr was very meticulous with the entire procedure paying attention to every detail 3- Facility very clean and surgical gowns and scrubs worn by his entire team 4- This one was impressive! The techs responsible for grafts implantation rotated out each hour and were replaced with new techs.I’m assuming this is to prevent fatigue thus moving the process along ensuring optimum graft placements. 5-The overall concern for me during the entire procedure, from the doctor to all of his techs and staff. Everyone always checked on me and were extremely professional. In closing I have to share that I did undergo two previous FUT procedures from two different doctors a few years ago and Dr Alexander is definitely better in many aspects. I would recommend him to anyone considering a hair restoration procedure. See attached pics. The first is a before and the rest are after the procedure.
First of all I would recommend this to everyone who is considering it and do it now. This way you get the most benefit for the buck. I wish I would have done it several years ago, but there in lies my problem. I have been aware of the procedure and possibility for at least 8 years. Every time I thought about doing it seriously (and there were many times) I would start the research and find that every Dr. / website had the "Best" procedure and then I saw these horrible looking transplants in real life and thought those had to come from these places I was researching. I concluded I would rather go bald than risk that bad transplant look. I gave up looking for a solution because I could not trust the information I was finding online (too conflicting). I had a good (and trusted) friend of mine that lives locally (AZ) tell me that he had a hair transplant (actually 2 of them) and I was shocked that I could not tell at all and it looked completely natural and full. That was all I needed to decide to do it and whom to do it with. All I needed was someone that I knew and trusted with the results I was looking for to convince me. My friend told me the two different processes that he did and he said that the last one (strip method) and Dr. Alexander was by far more successful than the robot one done previously by another clinic. Again, this was all I needed. I am very happy with the results and I am 7 months post procedure. My hair is still growing in and becoming thicker still. If the benefit was maximized today I would be happy with the outcome. To know it is still going to get better is great also. Here are the pics. I posted an update about 1.5 years post transplant. I think it has filled in great, I am still happy.
