Excellent experience. 6 months post procedure. Great results with 2100 grafts. Sounds low? Yes, but if skillfully placed, you can have a great result. If you read that FUT is old technology, don't believe it! It requires surgical experience and artful skill. Graft survival and donor preservation is excellent. Yes, there is a pencil thin line somewhere on the rear of my head. I will never see it, and neither will anyone else. I had many different consultations, and every single other clinic required a full head shaving. That may be OK for some, but not for me, there was no shaving, and I was back to work 2 days after the procedure. Not one person noticed since my thinning native hair adequately concealed any surgery. Yes, there are many options out there. Overseas (Turkey) is very popular and cheaper. However, wanted to speak with the surgeon who was actually doing the work, see the staff and office and check professional credentials. Very hard to do this background research with overseas clinics with any degree of certainly. I experienced no real discomfort, the worst was probably sleeping at 45 angle for 4 days. If you are on the fence, at least have a consult. Zero pressure from this office to schedule the surgery. And I mean ZERO. GW
After 3 FUT transplants over the past 6 years, I am still very happy with Dr. Carman's work. He is a top doctor and easy going. For my first transplant, I was (of course) nervous. But after deciding to move forward, I am happy with the results. There is a scalp scar, but you won't ever see if you tell the barber to keep above 5+ on sides (6 on the back). The alternatives to FUT are (Option 1) FUE, which is good for smaller patches and mildly thinning hair. This is a more expensive option and covers less surface area. (Option 2) shave your head, which I highly recommend if you can pull it off. Some people can and some people can't. Honestly, if I could pull it off ... I would have shaved and moved forward without worrying. Great option as well as the lease expensive.
