Anagen formulation · 4 activesBGrowth Maxi without the lightest-evidence active

Budget Growth Maxi

Growth Maxi minus latanoprost. The four-active formulation keeps the strongest-evidence components (fin + min + T3 + levocetirizine) and drops the active with the smallest standalone RCT.

The case for this stack

Why we paired these actives

Why drop latanoprost from the maximum stack

Budget Growth Maxi is the deliberate four-active version of Growth Maxi. The single component removed is latanoprost — and the editorial honest reason is straightforward: latanoprost has the lightest standalone RCT evidence in the original stack. The published latanoprost evidence for scalp AGA is essentially the Blume-Peytavi 2012 pilot RCT — n=16, 24 weeks. Positive direction of effect, but pilot-scale. Removing it cuts the formulation cost without removing any of the actives that carry larger evidence bases (fin and min are Grade A; T3 and levocetirizine each have their own supporting human data). The foundation — finasteride + minoxidil — remains the most-replicated combination protocol in AGA, backed by the 2025 meta-analysis of 7 RCTs (MD +9.22 hairs/cm² over minoxidil alone, p=0.04). T3 and levocetirizine layer additional mechanisms with independent human support. For users who want maximalist coverage without paying for the active with the smallest evidence base, this is the calibration point.

What's been studied

The studies behind the combination

Like Growth Maxi, the four-active formulation itself has not been studied in an RCT — the evidence is per-component and per-pairing. Here are the studies most directly relevant.

Honest limits

What the science doesn't yet answer

  • No RCT of this exact four-active formulation. Same limitation as Growth Maxi minus the latanoprost question.
  • Whether the marginal benefit of latanoprost (the dropped component) is clinically meaningful in the context of a fin+min foundation is not directly studied.
  • Long-term outcomes of four-active topicals vs simpler two-active protocols (The Basics) are not characterized.
Bottom line

Our verdict on Budget Growth Maxi

Sensible price-tier of the maximum stack
Budget Growth Maxi is Growth Maxi minus the active with the smallest standalone evidence. The four remaining actives each have published human data; the foundation pairing (fin + min) carries Grade A meta-analytic support. For users who want maximalist mechanism coverage but at a lower price point — and who are comfortable trading off the lightest-evidence component — this is the rational choice. Same Grade B verdict as Growth Maxi because the four-active formulation is still not directly studied at these concentrations.
Same evidentiary footing as Growth Maxi without paying for the active that has the smallest standalone RCT. Drops the question mark, keeps the foundation.
