Hair loss is regional. The back of the scalp usually holds its density while the front and crown thin first, so the useful comparison is you against you, not you against an average.

What is the catch? Why is it free?
There is no catch. Anagen runs the largest research effort dedicated to hair loss, and measurement is the basis of that work. You are not charged and you are not obliged to buy anything.
Is the scan a diagnosis?
No. A TrichoScan is a measurement. It records hair density, shaft thickness and the ratio of terminal to vellus hairs. It does not by itself diagnose a condition and it is not a substitute for care from your own physician.
Does it hurt, and do I need to shave?
Neither. The trichoscope is a handheld camera that rests against the scalp. Nothing is cut, injected or removed.
How long does it take?
About twenty minutes, including the sit-down afterwards to go through your results.
